FAQ’S

  • Costa Rica is in Central America, bordering Nicaragua, Panama, the Pacific Ocean, and the Caribbean Sea.

  • Many nationalities, including U.S. and EU citizens, do not require a visa for stays up to 90 days. Always check specific requirements based on your nationality.

  • The official currency is the Costa Rican colón (CRC), but U.S. dollars and credit/debit cards are commonly accepted

  • Costa Rica is in the Central Standard Time (CST) zone. No daytime saving.

  • No specific vaccinations are required for Costa Rica, but it's recommended to be up-to-date on routine vaccines.

  • Water is generally safe to drink in most parts of Costa Rica, but bottled water is recommended in some remote or rural areas.

  • Costa Rica uses 120V electricity, the same as in the U.S., with Type A and B outlets.

  • Tipping is not mandatory, as a 10% service charge is usually included in restaurant bills. For tourism related workers, it is more common to tip them. Amount is optional and depending on quality of service.

  • Costa Rica is considered a very safe country, though standard precautions should be taken, especially in major cities.

  • The national dish is "Gallo Pinto," a mix of rice and beans often served with eggs for breakfast.
